Carlton Engineering and GHD unite

Carlton Engineering joins GHD

Carlton Engineering, a multi-disciplinary planning, engineering and project management company, has joined GHD, one of the world’s leading engineering, environmental and construction services companies.

The combined team now numbers more than 50 people serving the Sacramento Valley and Sierra Nevada Foothills, offering an even larger suite of technical services. The Sacramento team is supported by GHD’s connected global network of 8500 people, with 4000 across North America, operating from 200+ offices.

Iver Skavdal, GHD’s Western Region Manager, says, “With a history spanning more than 30 years, Carlton brings an impressive portfolio of complementary project capabilities, including civil, structural, geotechnical, materials laboratory and surveying services. We share a commitment to client service excellence, and the values of teamwork, respect and integrity.”

Alan Carlton, Carlton’s Founder and CEO, says, “By joining GHD, we can offer our clients broader and deeper technical services, with a unique blend of local and global resources. In particular, we are delighted to provide expanded environmental planning capabilities for both public and private clients.”

Carlton has a rich history in serving communities and clients throughout Northern California. This legacy began when Alan Carlton founded Carlton Engineering in 1983 in Shingle Springs, CA to provide civil engineering and land surveying services to clients on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Over the years, Carlton added many services needed by both the company’s public and private sector clients including structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, earth sciences, environmental services, special inspections, and building safety review.  The company also expanded to include an NIST/CCRL compliant soils and materials testing laboratory.
