Since its inception, GHD has assisted global
communities to realise their potential and create lasting value
through our community contribution programs (The GHD Foundation and
GHD In the Community) and charitable contributions to a range of
not-for-profit organisations including Landcare, Guide Dogs
Association, Cancer Council, Habitat for Humanity and more.
The GHD
Foundation
Established in 2001, the GHD Foundation
provides funds and skills for projects in disadvantaged communities
across the world. Projects are selected with the aim of enhancing
local ways of life through the provision of pro-bono work and other
support.
Most recently, the GHD Foundation provided
pro-bono assistance to Victorian water authorities to secure safe
water supplies in bushfire-affected areas, in addition to making a
cash donation for victims of the Victorian bushfires to the
Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund. We also assisted the Queensland
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with initial response efforts
to the impacts arising from the recent oil spill off Moreton Island
in Queensland.
In 2008, the GHD Foundation contributed
AUD$75,000 to the Global Foundation’s Australia Unlimited
Roundtable, a citizen-driven public policy process that facilitates
the continuing development of national and international issues
concerning Australia’s future.
GHD in the Community
Since 2005, GHD has supported staff involvement in not-for-profit
organisations through the GHD in the Community initiative. Recent
contributions include:
- Donation to support the National FunFlight day in 2009, an
event organised by FunFlight, an Australian not-for-profit
organisation that offers children and teenagers with a life
changing illness or disadvantage, a day of ‘flying fun’ together
with their families.
- The construction of a fairy garden by our Canberra team for a
terminally ill young girl.
- A range of safety equipment for surf-life saving clubs. Rescue
gear and equipment represents the biggest single cost to running
lifesaving services in Australia. GHD is assisting with the
replacement costs of such equipment due to constant exposure to
sun, sand and salt water.
- Various schools and fundraising programs including the supply
of sporting equipment, sporting uniforms, rainwater tanks and the
like.
