Secondary and Tertiary Student

Share on:

GHD often has opportunities for undergraduate students at the end of their third year to gain work experience in the following areas:

  • Engineering
  • Environmental/earth sciences
  • Planning
  • Architecture

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in your chosen profession and gain insight into what your career will really be like. Many students enjoy their experience with us and often choose to work at GHD after graduating.

Trainee/cadet drafters

GHD also employs trainee/cadet drafters and specific work experience can be arranged for technical college students in drafting, CAD or GIS applications.

To join GHD as a cadet drafter, individuals should have attained satisfactory high school technical drawing and mathematics results and have a desire to complete technical training (eg. TAFE Certificate IV).

We will give you time to attend training, and complement that with on-the-job training and mentoring by experienced drafters.

To apply please complete your application via our online recruitment system.  Please ensure that Vacation/Work Experience is selected as the application type and that you your covering letter, resume and current academic transcript are attached.

Due to high demand for placements, all applications for secondary school students wishing to undertake general work experience placement should be made with the support of a GHD staff member who is well known to you. This GHD person will liaise with their local manager for an available placement.

GHD encourages its people to attain professional accreditation status in their relevant discipline. There are many external accreditation programs available to staff both in Australia and in the global locations GHD operates in. Becoming an accredited or registered practitioner in your chosen field, in your country, further recognises your professional competence. GHD supports its people in gaining accreditation as part of their Professional Development Plan.
