Getting the right priorities in place to deliver efficient, reliable and well-planned transportation systems are fundamental to a community's economic prosperity and quality of life.

Economic and population growth, greater urbanization and increased mobility are boosting demand for new infrastructure and straining the capacity and effectiveness of existing infrastructure. Single mode approaches are no longer viable as governments and stakeholders recognize the need for multi-modal solutions across the whole supply chain.

Across the whole transport spectrum of aviation, marine, roads and highways, rail and transportation and logistics, our team provides integrated transport services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transport economics and business case advice, through concept, procurement, detailed design and construction to operations, maintenance and asset management.

We help clients develop sustainable solutions which balance infrastructure investment with demand reduction, land use strategies and system efficiencies.

Completion of Highway 30, Québec, Canada

Road resurfacing improves accessibility

GHD delivered a range of services in support of the completion of Highway 30. This project aimed to finalize the Montréal Island highway bypass on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. The project comprised 42 km of new roadways and more than 100 km of ramps and access roads. It also consisted of several major structures, including two major interchanges (A30/A20/A540 and A30/A530), a tunnel under the Soulanges Canal, a first bridge across the St. Lawrence River, and a second bridge over the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Beauharnois Canal.

Despite difficult subsoil conditions (i.e., sensitive and compressible Champlain sea clay deposits), we were able to complete the project within the projected schedule and budget.

West Vancouver Freight Access - Schedule 1

image

The Port of Vancouver manages a significant link in the rail corridor, providing critical connectivity for freight mobility throughout the Pacific Northwest. A chokepoint at the entrance of the port leads to track conflicts and causes severe congestion, hindering the port’s ability to maintain smooth operations and a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

GHD, (as a sub-consultant to DEA), was selected to complete Schedule 1, the catalyst in a series of important projects that will increase rail capacity and maximizes future port growth potential.
