GHD provided a variety of services for the construction of a world-class hospital on the site of the existing St-Luc Hospital as well as on the adjacent plot of land to the south. The main building of the hospital consists of 22 floors and five underground levels with a capacity of 772 beds.

Our services included:

  • Geotechnical study
  • Construction materials testing
  • Support to the quality assurance department
  • Environmental characterization and environmental management of soils and groundwater
  • Monitoring the impacts of the construction on the operations of the adjacent St-Luc hospital as well as other neighboring services (air, noise, vibrations, etc.)

The construction of the new hospital building took place in a busy, densely populated area. We were able to complete deep excavations in a complex geological context with a high water table on a site adjacent to the existing hospital and an underground metro network, both of which remained in operation.
