Leading international professional services company GHD further
strengthened its position in consulting and project management with
the acquisition of Hassall & Associates in January 2008.
In operation since 1964, Hassall & Associates is one of the
most respected and successful consulting and project management
firms in its fields of operation. The company has two distinct arms
of its business, with Hassall & Associates International
dedicated to supporting international development assistance
throughout Asia and the Pacific, and Hassall & Associates
Australia providing high quality services to a diverse range of
clients on agriculture, natural resource and environmental
management issues within Australia and internationally.
Said GHD’s Robert Knott, Canberra Operating Centre Manager, "The
acquisition of Hassall & Associates brings new, complementary
dimensions to our business, that will enable us to realise further
opportunities for our clients.
"The two businesses have strong synergies. GHD’s reputation for
providing ‘hard’ or tangible development services combined with
Hassall & Associates’ established focus on ‘soft’ or intangible
services will enhance our capacity to deliver innovative solutions
around the globe. GHD’s presence in Indonesia, China and the
Philippines will be augmented by the Hassall & Associates’ team
in the Asia-Pacific region. In Australia, we will build on their
strength and reputation to provide strategic services in
agriculture, natural resource management and economics to
complement our growing focus on sustainability, water and
agribusiness."
Knott adds, "This acquisition builds upon GHD’s reputation for
providing professional services for 80 years. It also consolidates
our success in Canberra for the past 40 years and demonstrates our
commitment to expanding our geographical presence and broadening
our service and technical capability.
"We are now focused on integrating our operations and will
relocate our 240 Canberra based staff into 3,000sqm of new office
space in the CBD later this year.
