Leading professional services company GHD hosted an event last
night to celebrate the company’s expansion into larger offices at
317 River Street. Special guests at the event included Cr Phil
Silver, Mayor of Ballina, Don Page MP, Member for Ballina, and
Tasos Katopodis, who oversees GHD’s operations on the NSW north
coast and in the Hunter Valley. GHD relocated to the River Street
premises in order to accommodate its continued growth.
Says GHD’s Ballina Office Manager, Lester Gellatly, "Since
opening our doors in Ballina in 2003, GHD has grown from two to ten
staff despite severe labour shortages across the industry. This
sustained growth demonstrates our clients’ satisfaction with GHD
and the services we provide."
GHD’s leading position in Ballina was further demonstrated when
the company was awarded winner of the Professional Services
category (more than 5 staff) of the 2007 Ballina Shire Business
Awards on Saturday night. GHD is also the recipient of a Safe
Business Award from WorkCover NSW. "It is just fantastic to have
won a Ballina Shire Business Award that recognises our ongoing
commitment to the local prosperity and growth of the region in a
manner that is economically, environmentally and socially
responsible. This Award acknowledges the hard work our Ballina team
has put in over the past few years to align our local capabilities
with the increasing complexity and range of projects required in
the Northern Rivers. Winning a Safe Business Award is also
important as it recognises another reason for our continued growth:
GHD's drive to put people first. Our people are our most important
asset," said Mr Gellatly.
GHD’s Ballina office undertook approximately 90 projects in
2006, servicing clients from a broad range of industries including
State and Local Government, water authorities, utilities companies
and private industry. These projects involved provision of civil,
structural, water, electrical, mechanical and environmental
services supported by GHD’s town planners, projects managers,
environmental scientists and architects.
GHD employs 6000 people in a network of offices throughout
Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
