Leading international professional services company GHD has
been rated as one of the best large workplaces in the 2007
Unlimited/JRA Best Places to Work in New Zealand Survey.
The company was also recognised as ‘Most Improved’ in the 400
plus employee category. Now in its eighth year, the annual survey
is New Zealand’s largest study of employee attitudes and
opinions.
GHD was rated highly for its supportive culture, flexibility,
and family and lifestyle-friendly approach. According to New
Zealand General Manager, Barry Potter, “Being recognised in this
survey forms part of one of our key strategic goals. Our
achievement is particularly significant, as the growth we have
experienced in recent years has presented some challenges. To meet
these, we have actively focused on integrating our values –
teamwork, respect and integrity – into every element of our
business. For this reason, it is extremely gratifying to have
scored highly in areas that reflect a collective commitment to
living our values and strategy.”
The company has also broadened its management team to get better
representation across the business, and to make the process of
building strategy more transparent and engaging. “Overall our
people feel empowered, with the flexibility and freedom to do their
job to the best of the ability,” adds Potter. “This is great for
the company and great for our clients.”
This is only the second time that GHD has taken part in the
online survey, which attracted 207 companies and 22,500 employees
in 2007.
Ranked in the world’s top 30 engineering and architecture firms,
GHD has operated in New Zealand for over eight years and has also
been recognised as one of the country’s Fast 50 companies.
