Former GHD Chairman Clive Weeks has been elected as a Fellow of
the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering
(ATSE).
Mr Weeks was honoured for his leadership in the field of civil
engineering and large infrastructure projects and his stewardship
of GHD.
A 36-year veteran of GHD, Mr Weeks served as Chairman of GHD
until this month and was previously the company’s Chief Executive
Officer.
During his time as Chairman, GHD has been involved in notable
Australian infrastructure projects including the Western Corridor
Recycling Project in Queensland, desalination plants in New South
Wales and Victoria, the Perth-Bunbury Highway, and a number of
other projects to improve Australia’s infrastructure.
GHD has also played a role in the delivery of important projects
internationally including the world’s tallest tower, Burj Dubai,
numerous water infrastructure projects in South East Asia and a
wide range of port and energy developments in Chile.
ATSE is an independent body of 800 eminent Australian
technologists established to promote the application of scientific
and engineering knowledge to practical purposes.
A limited number of ATSE Fellows are elected each year for their
achievements in technological sciences or engineering.
Mr Weeks said he was honoured to accept the Fellowship and
considered it a highlight of his rewarding career as a civil
engineer, which has spanned almost four decades.
"GHD’s strong performance over the past six years, its values,
people policies and enhanced corporate governance all contributed
to the reasons why I was elected as an ATSE Fellow".
