GHD has taken a lead on corporate social responsibility initiatives by co-organising a beach cleaning programme, with its partner, Sime Darby Berhad, at Pantai Balok, Kuantan.

Over 300 representatives from Kuantan Municipal Council, Malaysian Nature Society, Department of Marine Park Malaysia, Local Resident Community (JKKK) and students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Balok and Sekolah Kebangsaan Balok Makmur took part on this meaningful event.

According to Chief Executive Officer, GHD Perunding Keith Christiansen, the effort reflected the company’s commitment to be a responsible citizen.

"Our theme – Conserve Our Beaches For Future Generations” highlights the importance to conserve our natural surroundings and protecting our environment. We recognise the need to improve the way people live in the community and aim to work together to create a sustainable and clean environment for the future," said Keith.

The event was launched by YH Dato’ Azizan bin Ahmad, Yang Dipertua Kuantan Municipal Council. The launch also witnessed some 300 trees planted at the surrounding areas of Pantai Balok.

“MPK values GHD ‘s efforts in promoting a sustainable and clean environment and we hope to see the initiative extended well into the future,” said YH Dato’ Azizan at the opening.
