University student Fan Yee Mun will undertake an internship at
GHD Perunding Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia after being named the winner of
the Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) Essay Competition at
a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Yee Mun is studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the
University of Adelaide as a recipient of the 2008 Malaysia
Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration Scholarship. Malaysia Airlines
presented her with an airline ticket, which will allow her to
return home to complete her four-week internship at GHD Perunding
Sdn. Bhd.
The essay competition is part of an effort to encourage a
two-way flow of scholars between Malaysia and Australia and to
enable continued learning about one another. Yee Mun’s essay was
entitled “The student’s role in building bilateral relationships
between Australia and Malaysia”.
GHD Malaysia Manager Liong Khoo said: "GHD is proud to host Yee
Mun at our Kuala Lumpur Operating Centre. This is a great
opportunity for her to realize the opportunities that GHD offers in
building bilateral relationships between Australia and
Malaysia."
At the presentation at the Legend Hotel, Australian High
Commissioner to Malaysia Penny Williams said: "In her essay, Yee
Mun explores the role of Australian alumni as future leaders, the
success of the Colombo Plan and the role of students as
ambassadors, citing active involvement in a range of programs that
support students in these endeavours."
GHD Perunding Sdn. Bhd. was awarded Business of the Year 2008 by
the Malaysia Australia Business Council.
