Australian Governor-General Quentin Bryce has acknowledged the
important contribution made by GHD while attending the opening of
the firm’s new offices in Canberra.
Ms Bryce said GHD had earned respect for the
quality of its work and its involvement in projects of great
significance.
“GHD has always had a fine reputation for the
highest levels of professionalism,” Ms Bryce told the 300-strong
gathering of clients and staff at the official opening of the
Barrandi Centre.
The Governor-General unveiled a plaque marking the
opening, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in
GHD’s history.
She said GHD had made a strong contribution to
Canberra’s built environment and also praised the work of the
firm’s international development assistance team for its commitment
to supporting good governance in Australia’s neighbouring
countries.
The fit out of the new office was designed by a
team of young professionals aged 20-35 to meet top sustainability
standards.
GHD Chairman Des Whybird praised the calibre and
the passion of GHD’s young professionals.
“It’s these young people who help us to meet the
challenges of today as well as the challenges for future
generations,” he said.
