Leading professional services company GHD has appointed Warren Traves to head its global water business.

Mr Traves has more than 20 years’ experience in the water industry and has been involved in a number of major projects. For the past three years he has been the Engineering Manager for the AUD2.5 billion Western Corridor Recycled Water Project, which was named Global Water Project of the Year in 2008 by Global Water Intelligence. Mr Traves was also involved in the BMP Alliance on the Gold Coast and the Northern Manila Water Supply project for Maynilad Water in the Philippines.

GHD has been at the forefront of the water industry for more than 80 years. Mr Traves will be responsible for the continuing growth of the global water business, including leveraging opportunities brought by four new strategic mergers in the United States.

GHD Chairman Des Whybird congratulated Mr Traves on his appointment.

“GHD is currently working on some of the most significant water projects in the world, with climate change, population growth and urbanisation providing opportunities for our water business across the globe,” Mr Whybird said.

Mr Traves replaces Nick Apostolidis, who has led GHD’s global water business for the past 10 years. Mr Apostolidis, a Director of GHD, has been appointed General Manager of Client Development.
