A GHD Meyrick report, which was highly influential in targeting
the East Arm Wharf expansion for a $50 million injection of Federal
Government funds, has won an award for engineering excellence.
The NT Government used the GHD Meyrick report, which provided
economic justification for proposed port expansion works, as part
of their submission to Infrastructure Australia for funds.
“Infrastructure Australia briefs the Federal Government on
nationally significant infrastructure programs, and the NT
Government submission, which incorporated the GHD Meyrick report,
competed strongly against 600 national submissions to be selected
as one of 28 priority infrastructure projects across Australia,”
said Department of Planning and Infrastructure CEO, Richard
Hancock.
“It featured a full cost benefit analysis and economic
investigation, undertaken by GHD Meyrick, which detailed the
positive trade implications of expanding the Wharf facilities to
meet growing demand for exporting of bulk minerals through the
port.
“The East Arm Wharf expansion is very important to the
Territory’s development, making the outcome of the Government’s
submission a crucial part of its economic strategies,” he said.
The report was recognised by Engineers Australia (NT) in
the Reporting Category.
GHD was also highly commended for its work on the Ben Hammond
Complex in Darwin - the Territory’s first ever 4 Star Green Star
certified building.
