One of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
environmental consulting firms, GHD, has been appointed as project
consultant to the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (ADP GHQ)
for the development and implementation of an Environment Health and
Safety Management System (EHSMS).
The ADP GHQ employs more than 35,000 people in
providing a wide range of public services that include police,
ambulance and fire fighting services.
Development and implementation of the EHSMS program
will run over a period of 13 months, engaging key members of GHD’s
EHS team to work in the ADP GHQ. During this time, GHD will work
closely with the ADP GHQ Health, Safety and Environment team to
develop and implement an EHSMS that both initiates cultural change
and meets the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi regulatory requirements
and deadlines that were decreed in June 2009.
As part of the implementation of the project, GHD
will deliver bi-lingual training to more than 7000 ADP GHQ
staff.
Speaking of the project, GHD UAE Environment
Manager Henrietta Jukes said, ‘We are delighted to be working with
the ADP GHQ on this project. This is an opportunity for our
staff to impart global knowledge in the local context.
Working alongside local staff is invaluable when dealing with
issues important to the sustainable future of the region.’
