One of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
environmental consulting firms, GHD, has been awarded a coin for
excellence in service for their work as project managers and
contract administrators for the Enhanced Land Force (ELF) project;
stage 1 Blamey Barracks - Kapooka Military Area in Wagga Wagga,
NSW.
The personal coin was awarded by Kapooka Commandant Colonel
Graeme Finney following a military parade at the Kapooka Military
Area base and accepted by GHD Canberra Manager Mr Rob Knott.
Colonel Finney said “GHD has been recognised due to the great
work they have done in support of Kapooka, specifically for the
project management undertaken at ELF. “Under GHD guidance, this
project is progressing particularly well. Each project has
its challenges, however the work completed at Blamey Barracks has
allowed seamless operations elsewhere on site.
“Normally the presentation of a coin goes to a soldier of
excellence at our passing out parade, but GHD’s performance has by
far exceeded all expectations and thus is worthy for
commendation.”
The ELF project incorporates new recruit accommodation
buildings, a mess, a sewerage treatment plant, an indoor weapons
training simulator, extensions to the Gymnasium and Medical Centre,
a swimming pool, an effluent reticulation system and base wide
infrastructure upgrades. GHD have assigned three permanent
staff to be based on site to complement their local team in Wagga
Wagga and global network of professionals.
Speaking of the award, Wagga Wagga acting Office Manager Scott
Farrell said, “We are extremely honoured to receive this
recognition for excellence in service. The ELF project is an
exciting development for the region and looks to be a benchmark for
such a facility worldwide. With a GHD team of almost 20 in
Wagga Wagga we understand the importance of this project to the
local community. This makes the acknowledgement all the more
special to GHD.”
