One of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
environmental consulting firms, GHD has appointed Dr. Daniel
Sutcliffe as business group manager for energy and resources. As
part of this role, he also joins GHD’s Newcastle operating centre
management team.
Daniel brings to GHD more than 15 years of
experience as a structural and civil engineer with some of the
region’s leading engineering consultants.
In his role as business group manager, Daniel
will focus on growing GHD’s involvement in the energy and resource
sector in the Hunter and North West NSW, and will lead a team of
more than 50 engineers and support professionals located in
Newcastle, Singleton and Gunnedah.
Speaking of his appointment Daniel said, “GHD
is in a favourable position to grow its support of the expanding
energy and resources sector with a strong local team here in
strategically located offices. We can offer the complete suite of
services – from mine feasibility and environmental studies through
to closure and rehabilitation, which positions GHD perfectly to
partner with mining organisations in the region.”
“One of the key benefits in working with GHD
is our ability to provide clients with one local design team and
access to the complete range of complementary services in the
environment, materials handling, geological and community
consultation fields. Our network of 6000 skilled people around the
world is on-hand to assist as needed,” he added.
Newcastle Manager Tasos Katopodis said, “With
his experience designing and delivering large scale mining,
industrial, infrastructure, residential, commercial and
multi-storey projects in the Hunter region and across the globe,
Daniel will complement our strong Newcastle management team.”
“Further, his considerable technical and
management experience will strengthen our energy and resources team
and local clients will see the benefits of his knowledge straight
away,” Tasos added.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Engineering
(Civil/structural) and a related Doctorate of Philosophy from the
University of Newcastle.
