GHD appoints new South Queensland Manager

1 July 2010

One of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and consulting firms, GHD, has appointed Warren Traves as Manager for South Queensland, following the move from incumbent John Baird, who will relocate to Qatar as General Manager – Middle East & Europe.

Warren joined GHD as a graduate engineer in 1988.  During his time at GHD, he has worked in Brisbane, Cairns and Manila.  More recently, Warren has held the role of Global Market Leader for Water and has spent a number of years on GHD’s Strategy and Finance Committees.

Warren holds a Masters Degree in Engineering Science. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Works Engineering and Engineers Australia, and a Member of the Australian Water Association, the International Water Association and the American Water Works Association.

Warren’s extensive experience in the Australian and international water markets, involvement in major projects such as the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project and his commitment to a collaborative approach to team building and project delivery will ensure the continued success of GHD’s South Queensland operations.

Commenting on his new role, Warren said, “South Queensland is GHD’s largest operating centre.  There continues to be great opportunities for us across the state, and I hope to bring to the role a broader sense of GHD as an international firm with an Australian heritage, delivering world-class services to a world-class region.  I look forward to working with our clients and our team to contribute to the ongoing development of our community.”
