GHD, one of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
environmental consulting companies, has appointed Evan Mayson to
the role of Business Group Manager for Northern New Zealand.
Evan joined GHD four years ago, initially to
develop GHD's management consulting business before taking the role
of Central Regional Manager. In this position he appointed a
leadership team and developed a stronger focus on clients and
collaboration across GHD's five offices in the region. Most
recently, Evan has led the Auckland Transport Business Group and
established GHD's positioning within the new Auckland governance
environment.
GHD General Manager Gary Payne said, “Evan’s
extensive knowledge and insight around development and management
of infrastructure in an international context make him an ideal fit
for this role. His achievements both at GHD and in his earlier
career have been considerable, and his skills will significantly
enhance GHD’s service to clients in the Northern region.”
Before joining GHD, Evan was part of engineering
consultancy Royds Garden (later Montgomery Watson), setting up its
Auckland office before running MWH's International Division,
including World Bank and ADB projects in the Pacific and south-east
Asia.
Evan also worked for Volunteer Service Abroad on a
water project in Papua New Guinea, and in Thailand, as a water
resources adviser on a New Zealand government aid irrigation
project. He spent two years on a World Bank water project in the
Rift Valley, Kenya and also had early exposure to water resource
engineering in roles with the Ministry of Works in New Zealand’s
South Island.
Evan holds a Bachelor of Engineering in civil
engineering from the University of Canterbury, and an MSC in
Business from the Imperial College of London. He has served on the
Council for Volunteer Service Abroad and PINZ (Polytech
International New Zealand), an academic board that exports New
Zealand educational skills.
