One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and
environmental consulting firms GHD opened the doors to its new
office in Gunnedah.
In line with the strategic objective to improve client outcomes
through a local presence, GHD’s operations are set to establish a
long and successful contribution within the Gunnedah Shire,
Exploration Project Manager Brent Delany explained.
“Having worked on the Shenhua Watermark Project for the past 18
months, it is evident that Gunnedah is a town that continues to
thrive. It makes good business sense to contribute to the
development of the region at this early stage,” said Mr Delany.
“Opening an office in Gunnedah reinforces our commitment to
developing a strong working relationship with the community and
local businesses.”
“Having worked in the area for some time now, I understand that
the fly-in and fly-out approach doesn’t really work in growing
rural communities,” said Mr Delany. “Once we are established, we
aim to employ local talent and further support businesses in this
area.”
Mr Delany also believes that Gunnedah is not only a great town
to do business, but also a great town to raise a family.
“I am now living in Gunnedah with my wife and two children and
having a great time – our youngest was actually born in Gunnedah
hospital 12 weeks ago, so unfortunately being from Queensland we
had to buy her a Blue’s jersey!” continued Mr Delany. “As the
business grows, we will be encouraging more GHD staff and our
contractors to base themselves in Gunnedah and be part of the
community.”
Currently, more than 5 industry professionals including
engineers, geologists and environmental scientists will work from
the Gunnedah office.
