GHD passes 5 year milestone in Toowoomba

31 March 2010

The Toowoomba office of one of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and environmental consulting firms has recently celebrated its 5 year anniversary.

GHD, the firm that employs more than 6,000 people worldwide, opened locally in March 2005 with just 3 employees.  In 5 years, the office has grown to 23 staff, with business focused on water, property & buildings, transportation, energy & resources and the environment.

GHD contributed to the successful delivery of major regional projects such as the MRH facility at Oakey, 15 schools for the ‘Building the Education Revolution’ program, the Dalby Undercover Arena and the IGA Supermarket in Bridge Street. Major infrastructure projects in the region include the Toowoomba Regional Council Sewerage Strategy and new water reservoirs for Roma and Oakey.

As part of a drive to foster local talent and continue to ongoing growth in the city, GHD supports the University of Southern Queensland graduate program exclusively, having employed 7 graduates from the Toowoomba campus since opening.

Office Manager Andrew Scovell commented “Our commitment to local development, our community and the provision of world-class consulting services has ensured the continual growth of our Toowoomba operations.  In the past few years, our graduate recruitment program has employed some of the region’s brightest minds, ensuring the direct benefits of local education are felt at a local level.”
