GHD Chairman Des Whybird and Major Dams Manager Brian Forbes
have recently been listed amongst Engineers Australia Top 100
Influential Engineers for 2010.
Des Whybird was recognised amongst a select
group of Influential Consulting Engineers. Commenting on his
leadership challenges at board level, Des said, ‘We focus on
setting the strategic direction of the firm, maintaining corporate
governance and planning for future succession in the context of a
wholly staff-owned firm.”
Brian Forbes, who is considered instrumental
in the introduction of roller compacted concrete (RCC) for use in
dams in Australia, was listed as a leading engineer in the field of
innovation and expertise. Brian joined GHD in 1979, and in his
career has been closely involved in more than 50 projects in 22
countries.

Engineers Australia is the national forum for

its members. The 2010 listing is the seventh published by Engineers
Australia, and aims to draw attention to engineers who fulfill
influential roles in society.
