GHD Chairman Des Whybird and Major Dams Manager Brian Forbes have recently been listed amongst Engineers Australia Top 100 Influential Engineers for 2010.

Des Whybird was recognised amongst a select group of Influential Consulting Engineers. Commenting on his leadership challenges at board level, Des said, ‘We focus on setting the strategic direction of the firm, maintaining corporate governance and planning for future succession in the context of a wholly staff-owned firm.”

Brian Forbes, who is considered instrumental in the introduction of roller compacted concrete (RCC) for use in dams in Australia, was listed as a leading engineer in the field of innovation and expertise. Brian joined GHD in 1979, and in his career has been closely involved in more than 50 projects in 22 countries.

‘The recognition of Brian as a leading influential engineer reflects his position within not only the water community, but the engineering community as a whole. Our people and clients benefit daily from having such an influential, knowledgeable and experienced professional in their midst,’ offered Mr. Whybird.
