GHD, one of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and
environmental consulting companies, has appointed two senior
aviation professionals in a bid to offer clients greater depth in
airport and aviation services.
Speaking on the strengthening of his team, GHD Global Market
Leader Transportation Ian Dawson said, “We are delighted that
David Race and Ian Henderson have
chosen to join our team to help shape the future of an aviation
industry that is complex and challenging. Our clients are
increasingly looking for commercially viable outcomes. David and
Ian will help to pave the way to this objective, faster.”
David joins GHD as Principal Aviation Consultant,
with a wealth of experience in maximising airport land use and
creating more flexibility within airport operations. He has worked
on large, complex aviation projects in airports around the globe,
most recently as part of an international team advising Aer Lingus
on operational readiness and airport transfer for the newly created
Terminal 2 at Dublin International Airport.
David has undertaken a number of strategic projects
for the Victorian Government and was liaison manager for ExxonMobil
for the planning, design and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
approval for a new green field airport in Papua New Guinea. He
played a leading role in a consortium bid for Sydney (Kingsford
Smith) Airport, and has provided strategic planning and operational
advice to Boeing, Qantas, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Aer
Lingus and HEATHCO.
A qualified commercial pilot and Royal Australian
Air Force Reserve, David’s business acumen is complemented by a
thorough appreciation of flight and aircraft.
As GHD’s newly appointed Senior Aviation
Consultant, Ian brings limitless aviation aptitude to clients,
having worked around the world in aviation consulting, air
services, the defence force, and air traffic control. He excels
when identifying opportunities to optimise operations within the
constraints of existing infrastructure and land use. As a senior
operations analyst with Airservices Australia, Ian developed
enviable capability in simulation modelling of airports, air
spaces, and the operational aspects of instrument approach and
departure procedures. He has also assisted a number of consultants
with airport capacity studies, risk analysis and operational
research for international airports in Mumbai, Bangkok, Taiwan,
Sydney and for the Department of Defence.
