Chances are, if you drank a glass of water
this morning in one of 50 cities across the globe, Brian Forbes may
have helped to put it in your tap.
Brian, GHD’s manager for major dams projects,
has been named amongst twenty of the world’s most influential dam
engineers in the journal International Water Power and Dam
Construction.
Based in Brisbane Australia, Brian has more
than 45 years experience across the globe in the spillway
modelling, investigation, design, documentation, construction and
review of all types of dams. He is recognised internationally as
one of the leading minds in roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dams,
having been closely involved in more than 50 RCC dam projects in 21
countries.
Speaking of the recognition, Brain said, “Peer
recognition is a fantastic reward in this line of work, especially
considering this listing places me among those well recognised as
leaders in this industry. Moreover, it acknowledges the
contribution we each make to the way dams are viewed as part of the
quest toward water security.”
Brian’s legacy is carried through to his
current team at GHD, as he shares both state-of-the-art and
heritage knowledge, having been considered instrumental in the
introduction of RCC for use in dams in Australia some 25 years
ago.
