Water stars align at GHD

GHD’s water business is positioned for growth with a stellar new leadership team that extends from Australia to the Americas.

Building on his international reputation, Nick Apostilidis has a new role as Global Development Leader. Strongly supported by US based General Manager Americas Rich Wankmuller, and Global Technical Leader Rip Copithorn, Nick’s focus is on further development of GHD’s global water business. Both Rich and Rip are recognised within the international water scene for their technical leadership and industry contributions.

Chris Hertle continues as Global Market Sector Leader. Passionate about delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to clients, Chris is pleased to introduce four new senior recruits with the credentials and experience needed to deliver client centred, industry savvy water solutions:

Ross Young takes on the role of Business Leader Water - Australia. Ross has held senior positions at Melbourne Water and developed an intimate knowledge of the Australian water industry in his former role as Executive Director at Water Services Association of Australia.

Mike Williamson is Business Group Manager - Water and Environment in Newcastle. Mike has a wealth of experience in water and waste management, with strong commercial experience drawn from his roles as Group General Manager at Veolia Environment Services and the publicly listed Environment Group Limited.

Rob Saunders has taken the role of Business Group Manager - Water in North Queensland. Rob is a water and wastewater professional offering in depth knowledge of municipal water infrastructure and operations through senior roles with Townsville City Council and North Queensland Water.

Andrew Porter is Business Group Manager - Water in Sydney. Coming from a demand management background, Andrew’s focus is on leading a cohesive Sydney-based water group delivering integrated water solutions to clients across the GHD network.

Mike Graver is now Business Group Manager Water for Tasmania. Drawing on his considerable experience in strategic infrastructure management and planning, Mike’s focus is on working with clients on the long term commercial viability of water and wastewater services within the state.

GHD’s technical depth is further strengthened by the recent appointment of Thor Young, Service Line Leader Wastewater Treatment and Recycling in Bowie Maryland, Therese Flapper as Service Group Manager Water and Environment in Canberra and John Ware as Service Line Leader Irrigation based in Melbourne.

GHD is ranked 8th for sewer and waste in the latest ENR Top 10 International Design Firms by market.
