GHD, one of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
environmental consulting companies, has been selected by the Water
Services Association of Australia (WSAA), to facilitate the
development of a set of national principles and guidelines for
Capital Program Prioritisation for the urban water sector.
The project will draw from current industry
practice and research involving GHD’s international network of
consultants, and will assist the sharing of practices across the
industry.
GHD Manager - Victoria Phil Duthie said, “The
benefits of the principles and guidelines for Australia’s water
utilities are two-fold. Stakeholders will be able to better manage
their capital programs and Australians will benefit from a targeted
capital investment that will meet their service needs at a lower
cost.”
The assignment, which 18 major Australian water
utilities are contributing to, was initiated because of the large
growth in capital programs in the water sector; the increasing
level of regulation, government and board attention and the need
for water utilities to address many competing objectives.
WSAA’s members provide water and wastewater
services to more than 16 million Australians, including many of
Australia’s largest industrial and commercial enterprises.
