One of the world’s leading engineering, architectural and
consulting companies, GHD, has been nominated to receive a 2012
CareerTrackers Trailblazer Award. This award is presented to
organisations demonstrating profound leadership in the employment
of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
GHD started working with CareerTrackers in late
2010 and currently employs over ten students in the program around
the country as part of teams including industrial electrical and
automation, stakeholder engagement, and roads service groups.
CareerTrackers is a national non-profit
organisation that works with Indigenous university students and
private sector companies to create career pathways through a
structured internship program.
Peter Dunn, Indigenous Services Global Business
Leader, noted, “Working with our Indigenous Australians is more than just a responsibility; it’s good
business practice. The relationship with CareerTrackers is
part of a broader strategy to stimulate GHD’s commitment to
Indigenous economic development and reducing disadvantages.”
Founder and CEO of CareerTrackers Michael Combs
noted, “CareerTrackers takes great pride in the partnership we have
created with GHD. The approach to Indigenous employment by GHD is
that of a business imperative rather than social
responsibility.”
The award will be presented during the
CareerTrackers 2nd Annual Gala Dinner on 16 February
2012 in Sydney.
