One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and environmental consulting companies, GHD, has imported some significant infrastructure talent in bringing Bassam Halabi onto Qatar’s sandy shores.

Prior to joining GHD in 2004, Bassam was Infrastructure Manager for a large water utility in Auckland - New Zealand that serviced a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Bassam’s international civil engineering and environmental experience has been predominantly in infrastructure and network operations management. As the Business Group Manager - Infrastructure and Environment for GHD’s Qatar operations, he now manages a diverse team of professionals that supports a multi-million dollar business for the company.

GHD’s Manager – Qatar Cameron Gillanders offers, “Bassam has managed teams of all sizes - thus he brings to our clients the ability to ‘scale’ the process to fit the project.”

Bassam has a Civil Engineering Degree and a Master Degree in Environmental Engineering. Having worked client-side, he is acutely aware of the challenges associated within the industry and is committed to delivering innovation to the water and environment sectors.

He comments, “I’m delighted to join this talented team in Qatar. My experience, along with the technical ability of GHD’s team here on the ground in Qatar and across the globe means that we have a significant opportunity to develop exemplary solutions for our clients.”

GHD employs more than 250 people in the Middle East, who are supported by a global network of 6000 professionals around the world. The company is known for its work providing long-term environmental monitoring services for the New Doha International Airport, and setting the standards for Kahramaa for desalinated water quality in Qatar, amongst many other projects.
