One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and
environmental consulting companies, GHD, has unveiled new water
science labs and field depots in Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia.
The facilities provide a ‘one stop shop’ for aquatic field work,
including preparation for water, soil, macroinvertebrate and fish
“This is a unique capability for a consulting company. We run
fully functioning aquatic ecology laboratories and field services
depots, not only for river health management, but also to support
client offerings across a range of environmental disciplines,”
Christobel Ferguson, GHD’s Water Science Manager, says.
The Melbourne and Brisbane labs are both fully operational
workspaces, including microscopes of differing resolution for
identification of macroinvertebrates and other microfauna. Each lab
has a wet area for processing field samples and an area dedicated
to the reference collection of macroinvertebrates and fish. A
storage area houses equipment for field work.
Christobel adds, “We offer a suite of services to clients,
including water quality testing, soil collection, on-ground site
work, macroinvertebrate analysis and reporting. GHD can also assist
other groups in equipment calibration and field logistics.”
