The Sydney office, which has operated for nearly 80 years, now employs more than 400 people. Rouse Hill Recycled Water Plant

Rousehill

Client: John Holland; the Principal was Sydney Water in partnership with Sydney Water Corporation, John Holland, Thompson Controls, and GHD delivered the $60 million Rouse Hill Recycled Water Plant – Stage 2 Amplification project. This is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest residential water recycling scheme.

Initiated in September 2006, the project doubled the capacity of the existing waste water treatment plant to 27 million litres per day and increased the recycled water capacity to 4.7 billion litres per year, which will supply 36,000 homes in the local community at the project’s completion.

The Murray

Murray Darling

Improving the environmental health of the Murray River is a concern of all Australians. The Murray Darling Basin Authority regulates the river system. In this initiative the Commission offered to pay landholders who are affected by the release of water from storages.

GHD Hassall worked with the Commission, the community and technical experts to identify the impact of released water on floodplain properties, to develop consistent assessment principles, and to register the impact on title via easements.

Epping to Chatswood Rail Line

Epping to Chatswood

The 13 km underground rail line from Epping to Chatswood via the commercial and education hubs of North Ryde and Macquarie University is one of the largest urban rail projects in Australia.

GHD developed a sophisticated track design for the project, for the client Thiess Hochtief Joint Venture, which includes twin-lined tunnels, dive structures at Epping and Chatswood, a large cut-and-cover tunnel section beneath the Lane Cove River, and four new underground stations.

David Kinniburgh is the Sydney Operating Centre Manager, responsible for our business in Sydney, Artarmon, Parramatta, Wollongong, Dubbo and Orange. David has worked with GHD for 14 years and has strong experience ranging from concept development to detailed design and construction management, predominantly in the transportation sector. Previously, he was the manager of GHD Tasmania and GHD’s Victorian Manager for Transportation and Municipal Engineering.

Tony Colenbrander

Tony is a geotechnical engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the civil and geotechnical engineering industry. He has had wide experience in a variety of projects, including a major hydroelectric scheme, numerous civil infrastructure developments, roads, earth dams, deep basements and pipelines. He has also prepared many “cause of damage” and “expert opinion” reports for legal and insurance disputes of a geotechnical nature.
