Orange

The Orange office opened in 2004. Our local team provides a diverse range of consulting services including project management, environmental, architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering, town planning and feasibility studies.

Living and working locally means that our teams are able to develop closer working relationships with our clients. We understand the local context in which projects are undertaken including the local drivers, stakeholders and the particular issues and challenges for projects in the local area. Our teams have experience working for government and private clients alike.

Recent company mergers in New South Wales, with Hassall & Associates, Cameron Chisholm & Nicol (NSW) and Meyrick & Associates, have strengthened GHD’s position in architecture, strategy and evaluation, and infrastructure and agricultural economics. GHD now boasts one of the largest, most experienced and respected teams across these areas, particularly in regional NSW.

While our clients value our regional experience and understanding of the local context they also value our ability to draw on the experience and specialist services from across the GHD network when a project demands additional resources or a particular skill set or experience that is not available locally. We manage these additional resources from our local base, meaning costs are appropriately controlled and solutions are matched to local requirements and expectations.

Ring Gear Replacement at Northparkes Mines - environmental engineering solutions

image

Our local team assisted in the development of a processing plant expansion plan at Northparkes Mines.

The work required our team to conduct a throughput review for the existing facilities and then provide engineering services to assist with the pre-feasibility study. GHD also led a team that produced a tailings strategy for the balance of the mine life including in-pit tailings deposition.

Orange Waste Project

image

GHD was engaged to prepare a preliminary environmental assessment (PEA) to assist with the development of a new resource recovery plan and transfer facility as well as new composting and landfilling operations in the Orange district. The project is an integrated resource recovery and waste management scheme that promises to be a model for sustainable regional waste management.

Working with Orange City Council and a range of groups providing inputs, our team coordinated and prepared the PEA document as well as prepared concept designs for the landfill and enclosed tunnel composting facility at Euchareena Road Resource Recovery Centre to support the application.

Rylstone Kandos Project – investigation of alternative water supply

image

Like many regional towns in Australia, the towns of Rylstone and Kandos and the villages of Charbon and Clandulla have experienced extensive periods of water restrictions. This is due to a relatively small dam and rainfall variability. This lack of water security prompted the Mid-Western Regional Council in New South Wales to engage GHD to investigate alternative water supply strategies.

GHD considered options such as groundwater, long distance pipelines from alternative dams, indirect potable reuse and buyback of water licences from upstream irrigators.
