For close to 40 years our Townsville team has had proven capability in the areas of project management, water/wastewater technology, hydrology/hydraulics, environmental, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, building hydraulics, civil engineering and the mining industry.

Our office is home to more than 70 employees who are focused on the requirements and needs or our clients. Port of Townsville Remediation

Innovation led to environmental success when Port of Townsville Limited completed the Acid Sulfate Soil remediation of the former Sun Sun Prawn Aquaculture Farm located on the Far North Queensland coastline south of Townsville.

Cleveland Bay wastewater treatment facility

GHD was commissioned to design a new Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) and membrane treatment system for the Cleveland Bay Wastewater Treatment Facility, with a capacity to cater for an estimated population of 126,000 people.

State-of-the-art biological processes were introduced, by combining an oxidation ditch (to achieve a high level of nutrient removal) with membrane solids separation, to achieve a very high effluent quality. This approach retains the simplicity and flexibility of the oxidation ditch while adding the exceptional solids separation capability of the membranes.

Upgrading the Ross River Dam

The Ross River Dam Upgrade project began in late 2005. GHD was commissioned to complete the majority of these works by December 2007.

The AUD$110 million civil infrastructure construction project brought the dam up to current Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD) safety standards.

North Queensland Gas Pipeline

The North Queensland Gas Pipeline (NQGP) is a 392 km gas pipeline and 10 MW compression facility that transports coal seam gas (CSG) from Moranbah in Central Queensland to Townsville.

It has made gas available to North Queensland for the first time. The pipeline provides a strategic link between the vast gas reserves of Queensland’s Bowen Basin coalfields and the rapidly growing economy of North Queensland.
