Sugarloaf Pipeline


A visual impact assessment was undertaken for the proposed extension of the Epping Craigieburn Sewer in Victoria, Australia.

Photomontage images and cross-sections were modelled in three-dimensions to indicate shaft sites before being aligned with existing photography using geographic information systems technology and presented for community consultation.

Gasworks contamination liability estimate, Australia


A government client engaged GHD to prepare liability estimates for a portfolio of properties for which it retained a contamination liability.

The project included a desktop review followed by a detailed source-pathway-receptor risk assessment. Contamination liability estimates were then generated for over 100 sites using a beta function with population distributions established based on the outcomes of the risk assessment and a combination of experience and published information.

Development of an Alternative Water Atlas


Client: Smart Water Fund, representing Melbourne Water, City West Water, Yarra Valley Water, South East Water and the Department of Sustainability and Environment Melbourne is a rapidly growing urban centre that has experienced the risks and changes associated with climate variability, as an extended drought saw water supply dam levels fall to approximately 25% capacity during 2009.

Since 2009, issues surrounding both current and future water supplies and costs have become increasingly present in politics and the media.

Dean McIntyre

Dean is GHD’s Manager for Victoria – leading more than 500 people in the sectors of Water, Energy and Resources, Environment, Property and Buildings and Transportation.

In his 20 years at GHD, he has worked in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and the Philippines. Prior roles include Manager for South East Asia and Business Group Manager for GHD's water business in Victoria.

He is a civil engineer with considerable experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects. He has also held project leadership team roles on the Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance, Barwon Water Alliance and Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area Renewal Alliance.

Andrew Roy

Andrew is GHD’s Victorian Market Leader for Environment.

This market sector provides a broad range of environmental services including planning and environmental approvals, contamination assessment and remediation, terrestrial and aquatic ecology, cultural heritage, waste management, environmental management systems, air and noise assessment and environmental audit .

Andrew has highly-developed project management and leadership skills, which were gained from over 20 years’ experience working in government, international development and consulting. He has a background in natural resource management and experience leading complex ecological investigations, managing multi-disciplinary environmental assessments on large infrastructure projects, ecological risk assessment, and greenhouse gas management. Andrew is an EPA Victoria appointed Environmental Auditor (Natural Resources) and Lead Auditor under the Australian Government’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme.

Mark Monaghan

Mark Monahan is GHD’s Victorian Market Leader for Water.

With more than 17 years’ experience in the water industry, both in Australia and internationally, Mark is charged with overseeing the strategic direction of the water sector and the development of GHD’s water business in Victoria. These services include water resources planning, dams, water and wastewater treatment, transfer and collection systems, and recycled water. His skillset includes master planning and high-level strategic development for major water and wastewater infrastructure. With strong leadership and management skills, Mark has worked on a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects ranging from high level strategic assessments through to concept/functional and detailed design and construction. Mark is a member of the Australian Water Association and Engineers Australia.

Paul Currie

Paul is GHD's Victorian Market Leader for Energy and Resources.

He has over 34 years’ experience in the mining and energy sector providing engineer services and planning. As a mining engineering principal, Paul is responsible for providing value to his clients in the energy and resources sectors by connecting our diverse technical skills to meet project needs. He also holds the position of State Councillor for the Minerals Council of Australia in Victoria and is a member of the AusIMM. Paul has well-developed strengths in engineering planning activities in the sector that include detailed feasibility studies, development work planning, earthworks, infrastructure design, risk management and project costing. An advocate for sustainable mining, energy security, renewables and successful project closure planning, Paul actively consults throughout Australia, Turkey and Asia.

Sam Rowland

A principal civil engineer, Sam has more than 20 years’ experience working for public and private clients primarily in the Property & Buildings market. He has held senior leadership roles in the company including being Service Group Manager for Urban Development for four years.

Through his background in urban development, Sam brings a passionate approach and unique perspective on urbanisation, which is a key focus in growing our Property & Buildings market.

Warren Harrison

Warren is GHD’s Victorian Market Leader for Transportation.

He is responsible for providing integrated transport services throughout the project lifecycle and across the whole transport spectrum of airports, marine, roads and highways, rail and logistics.

Warren has extensive experience in the planning, design and delivery of major projects, including the liaisons and relationship development with key clients as well as leadership of multidisciplinary teams including specialist sub consultants. He has expertise in transport infrastructure planning and project management including multidisciplinary highway and rail projects and planning, preliminary and detailed design for port facilities.
