Replacement of Public Land Bridges

The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment engaged GHD to provide a range of engineering services for the Public Land Bridges Replacement Project.

Located throughout the State’s numerous forests, parks and reserves, these bridges provide vital access for a number of important land uses, including fire management and suppression, and general public access for recreational purposes.

Metering scoping study - Identification of issues

GHD to undertook a high-level metering scoping study to establish key issues relating to bulk, network and customer meters. The process involved the preparation of a questionnaire, conducting interviews and identification of meter related issues. The study provided an initial step in a metering audit process with an ultimate purpose of providing input into YVW’s Metering Strategy.

The largest number of meters relating to the customer meter fleet consists of sizes less than 50 mm diameter with approximately 50% of the 600,000 meters being older than 12 years.

Zero Concept

In the spirit of harnessing innovation and raising benchmarks, GHD has developed a spectacular concept for a building of the future, called ZERO.

A hallmark of our company’s integrated multi-disciplinary services, ZERO is located at Richmond Station in Melbourne, Australia. Unveiled at the OUR PLANET Sustainability Forum, ZERO showcases our innovative approach and demonstrates what can be achieved in an energy and resource efficient building.

Dean McIntyre

Dean is the State Manager for GHD in Victoria. The Victorian operations employs over 700 people in the sectors of water, environment, transport, energy and resources and property and buildings.

Dean has over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, in particular managing multidisciplinary infrastructure and environmental teams for a broad range of projects involving due diligence, feasibility studies, planning, design and documentation and implementation.

Darren Hill

Darren is the Business Group Manager for property and buildings in Victoria. He leads an integrated design and delivery team covering architecture and interiors; urban design and landscape architecture; building services; structural engineering; materials technology; and project management.

Jim Giannopoulos

Jim is our Victorian environment leader. The environment business group provides services in environmental management; planning; natural resource management; contamination assessment and remediation; air and noise assessments; waterways and stormwater; stakeholder solutions; international development assistance and a regional Victorian environment practise.

Jim’s background is in water, environment and project management and he has worked in and held senior leadership positions in GHD offices in Australia, Asia and the US.

Steve Newcomb

Steve leads our Victorian energy and resources business group. This group includes traditional services such as mining; plant and process; risk management; dams; geotechnical and spatial science; oil, gas and energy; tunnelling; and regional energy and resources. Recently this group has evolved to include thermal and renewable energy.

Steve’s background is in mine design, mine development, geotechnical engineering and project management; which has included international experience in Thailand, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, China and Europe

Geoff Walker

Geoff is GHD’s Victorian Business Group Manager for transport. The transport group provides solutions for roads, bridges, rail, traffic and transportation, urban development and marine projects.

Geoff has 28 year's experience in structural design, asset management, contracts management, project management and management of multi-disciplined workforces. This experience has been gained in the gas, maritime, water, local government and public transport industries.

Robbert van-Oorschot

Robbert is the Business Group Manager for our Victorian water business, which includes water resources planning; water and wastewater treatment; transfer and collection systems and recycled water.

Robbert has over 25 years experience in the water industry, particularly in the areas of wastewater treatment, BNR, sludge handling and management, odour control and water recycling. He has written and presented more than 50 papers in the fields described above.
