GHD has been operating in Victoria for more than 80 years. We provide a comprehensive range of consulting services across the markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation. Having undertaken a number of landmark projects such as the  MCG Lights, the Victorian Desalination Plant and Deer Park Bypass, GHD continues to have a strong presence in Victoria.

We employ more than 700 architects, planners, scientists, drafters, project managers, economists, engineers and supporting staff. Our people are experienced in forming integrated teams for large, complex projects.

We operate from our central Melbourne offices and four regional offices located in Geelong, Mildura, Morwell and Wodonga. Victorian Desalination Plant

GHD has been engaged to provide a wide range of engineering, planning and environmental advice to the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment for the proposed AUD$3.1 billion Victorian Desalination Plant.

The project includes a desalination plant near Wonthaggi, transfer pipeline to Melbourne, marine tunnels for the extraction of seawater and return of concentrate to the ocean, and a power supply for the plant.

Sugarloaf Pipeline

A visual impact assessment was undertaken for the proposed extension of the Epping Craigieburn Sewer in Victoria, Australia.

Photomontage images and cross-sections were modelled in three-dimensions to indicate shaft sites before being aligned with existing photography using geographic information systems technology and presented for community consultation.

Development of an Alternative Water Atlas

Client: Smart Water Fund, representing Melbourne Water, City West Water, Yarra Valley Water, South East Water and the Department of Sustainability and Environment Melbourne is a rapidly growing urban centre that has experienced the risks and changes associated with climate variability, as an extended drought saw water supply dam levels fall to approximately 25% capacity during 2009.

Since 2009, issues surrounding both current and future water supplies and costs have become increasingly present in politics and the media.

Dean McIntyre

Dean is the State Manager for GHD in Victoria. The Victorian operations employs over 700 people in the sectors of water, environment, transport, energy and resources and property and buildings.

Dean has over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, in particular managing multidisciplinary infrastructure and environmental teams for a broad range of projects involving due diligence, feasibility studies, planning, design and documentation and implementation.

Dr Robbert van Oorschot

Robbert is the Business Group Manager for our Victorian water business, which includes water resources planning; water and wastewater treatment; transfer and collection systems and recycled water.

Robbert has over 25 years experience in the water industry, particularly in the areas of wastewater treatment, BNR, sludge handling and management, odour control and water recycling. 

He has written and presented more than 50 papers in the fields described above.

Geoff Walker
