The Geelong office was established in 2004 and is located in Victoria’s second-largest city, overlooking the waters of Corio Bay. GHD in Geelong is well placed to service south-west Victoria.

We provide the following integrated services to meet our clients’ needs:

Architecture: master planning, land use and area planning, structure planning and zoning applications, strategic planning, statutory planning, VCAT Appeals, architectural design services

Geelong Performing Arts Centre Playhouse Theatre Refurbishment

Geelong now boasts a contemporary performing arts facility which will remain a valuable part of the region’s cultural infrastructure for many years to come.

GHD was the Project Managers for the successful refurbishment of the award winning Geelong Playhouse Theatre on behalf of Arts Victoria. The refurbishment was required to modernise the outdated interior.

Our role was extended to included stakeholder engagement; coordination of design documentation; project management and contract administration; tendering and superintendence.

Waurn Ponds Quarry Rail - Vehicle Grade Separation

GHD was engaged by Blue Circle Southern Cement (BCSC) in Waurn Ponds to project manage the grade separation of a quarry haul road and the Geelong-Warrnambool Rail Line. When completed, the project will improve the efficiency and safety of access by quarry vehicles between limestone deposits that are currently traversed and separated by the rail line.

GHD's role was to manage negotiations, to execute stakeholder preconstruction agreements and provide superintendent services during the construction of the works. The project included a rail bridge and a second bridge supporting three existing large water mains servicing most of Geelong. It also included the 'in service' relocation of a 250 millimetre diameter gas transmission pipeline and Telstra services. The project value is AUD5.9m.

Tony Butler

Tony is the office-manger for GHD Geelong office. He has over 15 years of experience in a range of infrastructure related projects in both the UK and Australia, with extensive knowledge in road, rail and tunnelling projects.

Tony also has deep familiarity with structural design, design management, highway construction and contract/ project management.

Dean McIntyre

Dean is the State Manager for GHD in Victoria. The Victorian operations employs over 700 people in the sectors of water, environment, transport, energy and resources and property and buildings.

Dean has over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, in particular managing multidisciplinary infrastructure and environmental teams for a broad range of projects involving due diligence, feasibility studies, planning, design and documentation and implementation.
