Canberra Centre Consolidation

image

The ACT Government-owned National Convention Centre, Canberra was originally opened in 1989 and has been operated by the lessee, Intercontinental Hotels Group since 2001. It was one of the earliest specialist convention and exhibition facilities constructed in Australia. The project to reposition the National Convention Centre was initiated by the ACT Government and focussed on improving marketability though achieving value for money in addressing the sense of arrival and place, venue flexibility, delegate amenity and visitor experience. A capital upgrade program to refurbish the facility and achieve compliance with current building standards and reduce operating and maintenance costs was a key part of the redevelopment.
