Auckland Rail Upgrade

GHD is developing the asset management plan for the renewal of Auckland's passenger rail stations.

Auckland Regional Transport Network Limited (ARTNL), representing six councils in the region, has commissioned GHD to review asset management practices and produce the first asset management plan for Auckland's metro rail stations.

ARTNL plans to upgrade the 40 metro stations over the next five years at a cost of over NZ$100 million.

"An asset management plan for a project of this nature is quite a challenge. For example, when completed, the network will have essentially all new stations and GHD has worked closely with the client to clearly identify the costs of eventual renewal.  We have provided the client with a profile that shows when and how much the renewals to the stations are likely to cost. In addition, we have transferred some of the expertise required for long-term asset management, to provide the client with ownership of this process," advises Project Director Glen Syred.
