GHD designed the 9800sq m fit out for AusAID’s new purpose-built headquarters, located at 255 London Circuit, Civic, Canberra.

The fit out has been designed to visually and functionally reflect AusAID’s mission. It embraces technology and flexibility, evokes a sense of approachability and openness, and balances the agency’s need for security. It also captures the agency’s sense of history and its association with a broad range of cultures.

A neutral colour palette with hi-tech finishes was adopted and a limited number of background colours were used to differentiate building levels and introduce a ‘change of perspective’ in the break-out areas. Extensive exhibition areas accommodate an impressive portfolio of artworks and gifts from different client countries.
