Call Centre Site Development - Social Security Administration Teleservice Center

GHD provided civil engineering services for the renovation of an existing warehouse in Auburn, Washington. The warehouse was renovated so the Social Security Administration could provide a call centre to account for the upcoming increase of retirees in the national workforce.

Civil engineering services included grading, paving, storm drainage and utility design for the site.

The design was developed to take advantage of existing site features, utilities and soil conditions to provide a low-impact design that will be cost-effective.  Existing parking areas were maintained in their current conditions, with only minor modifications such as asphalt patching and repairs, and curbs and sidewalks for pedestrian safety.

Storm drainage conveyance incorporated existing storm drainage infrastructure to minimise the installation of new storm drain structures and pipe.  Stormwater was treated and infiltrated through a bio-retention swale (rain garden) and an infiltration trench to reduce pollutants, flow rates and volumes that will be sent offsite in storm drain pipes.

GHD also provided roadway design for 1300 feet of Aleshire Avenue to improve access to the project site, surrounding access points and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility.
