GHD has been engaged to design 235 villas for an exclusive new residential development in the West Bay Diplomatic precinct in Doha, Qatar. The Cultural Village project is spread over 99ha and is one of the largest ever undertaken by GHD.

The Cultural Village will reflect the heritage of Qatar through its traditional architecture. It is expected to host numerous community and cultural facilities, and includes a retail complex, theatres, a resort, and an air-conditioned, outdoor plaza for public events.

In a first for the Middle East, GHD has created contoured parkland that rises up to 30m above sea level in some areas. Each of the 235 villas are being strategically placed to capture the best views of the crystal water hugging the coastline. Design and planning centre on achieving an aesthetically inviting, geographically dramatic and architecturally distinctive space that will attract Qatari families, international residents and tourists.

Managed by the Government of the State of Qatar, GHD has has been involved in all areas of service for this development – urban design, establishment of planning, infrastructure and landscaping.
