GHD was engaged by Galliford Try (GT) to advise on the design of Livigunn BIOMASS project spanning three power stations. The plant is designed to generate electricity using biomass waste through an Advanced Thermal Treatment process.

GHD assembled a global project team across the UK, North America and Europe, providing a fully integrated multidisciplinary 3D model for safe, reliable, innovative and cost effective project design and construction.

The model was used for project reviews, clash detection, construction sequencing, general arrangements, construction isometrics and material take off.

To achieve fast track schedules for all three power stations, GHD mobilized its global network. Additionally, GHD was able to provide a full multidisciplinary design service and as well as other related services, such as assistance with planning and risk. This streamlined project relationships and enabled GT to work collaboratively with GHD to help expedite the projects.

GHD worked flexibly to constantly improve the maturity of the design as each element of key equipment vendor information became available. GHD had to design the facilities to fit within the compact sites selected for the power stations.

GHD delivered a successful project on schedule and on budget. The sites are all now in an advanced state of construction.
