Balancing heritage preservation heritage and modernisation is a key feature of the project to design an upgrade for Auckland’s historic Greys Ave Apartments. GHD was awarded the design contract.

Specific measures included in GHD’s design:

Installation of modern fire protection system
Replacement, re-routing and concealing of electrical cabling
Replacement water supply and drainage pipes
Landscaping
Installation of modern security system and infrastructure
Full upgrade of kitchens, bathrooms and laundries in all 50 apartments

Following consultation with stakeholders, GHD’s measured approach to the works has been approved as preserving the architectural integrity of a what is considered to be a ‘considerably significant’ building.
