Greys Ave Apartments

Balancing heritage preservation heritage and modernisation is a key feature of the project to design an upgrade for Auckland’s historic Greys Ave Apartments. GHD was awarded the design contract.

Specific measures included in GHD’s design:

  • Installation of modern fire protection system
  • Replacement, re-routing and concealing of electrical cabling
  • Replacement water supply and drainage pipes
  • Landscaping
  • Installation of modern security system and infrastructure
  • Full upgrade of kitchens, bathrooms and laundries in all 50 apartments

Following consultation with stakeholders, GHD’s measured approach to the works has been approved as preserving the architectural integrity of a what is considered to be a ‘considerably significant’ building.
