Horizon Alliance Office

GHD was engaged to create an office space for the Horizon Alliance comprising Queensland Rail (QR), Kellog Brown & Root Pty Ltd, John Holland Pty Ltd, GHD and the Department of Main Roads.

The Horizon Alliance is currently collaborating on a south-east Queensland transport corridor project. The tenancy space has to offer multiple benefits to attract and retain high calibre personnel as it is not located in the CBD or near normal office facilities.

The fit out accommodates 130 staff in an open plan over two levels in a 3000sq m floor space. This includes several quiet rooms, meeting rooms, boardroom, casual breakout spaces, cafe areas, staff lounge/lunch area, courtyard and a training room. To take advantage of the high ceilings, the slab was blacked out and building services exposed, introducing a raw and industrial feel. Meeting spaces were themed to reinforce the Alliance's core business and project objectives.

In conjunction with the fit out, the base building was completely refurbished with GHD working closely with the building contractor to address a myriad of complex site issues.

Due to the fast track nature of the project, the construction was approached as variation to a 'design and construct' method, with GHD filtering drawings to the contractor on a daily basis.

The fit out has provided the Alliance with a vibrant, open and very livable space.
