Manufacturing Facility Upgrade

Interface Australia is Australia’s largest manufacturer of carpet tiles for residential, commercial and industrial use. The company engaged GHD to assist with a major upgrade of its manufacturing facility.

It was important to the client that any upgrade was arranged so as to minimise disruption to ongoing plant operations.

The scope of the work includes new and extended office and factory buildings (including the doubling of available manufacturing and warehousing area); roads and car parks; an improved and extended stormwater system including rainwater harvesting; site-wide fire protection services; and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) services.

Our team has an ongoing involvement in the project which involves the provision of planning, engineering and management services, in particular:

  • Concept development and preliminary estimating works
  • Preparation and submission of Development Applications to the consenting authorities and consultation with other controlling authorities
  • Detailed design and documentation of additional infrastructure as required on the site, including structural steel framed building, roads and car parks and drainage works
  • Project scheduling and planning activities
  • Construction management of contractor activities including on-site superintendents role

Consistency and support of Interface Australia’s global sustainability policy is critical to the success of the project. This has meant all project works are being undertaken with a high priority given to environmentally sustainable design principles.
