GHD was commissioned by the City of Mount Gambier to provide documentation and construction phase services for the Mount Gambier Public Library.

The new public library is a focal point in the centre of the Mount Gambier township and includes various elements that make the facility a functional space for a broad cross-section of the community.

In addition to display areas for books and standard library back-of-house areas, the library also includes:

  • A themed children’s activity area, known as The Cave
  • Multipurpose and activity rooms
  • Learning lounge
  • Young adults area
  • Cafe
  • 165-space car park

GHD was also responsible for the project environmental assessment and management of the removal of a number of underground storage tanks (removed from the building site before construction).
