Nolans Pre-feasibility Study

Arafura Resources Limited is developing the Nolans Project, 135km north of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. The project contains a JORC compliant resource of over 18 million tonnes, containing rare earths, phosphate and uranium oxide (U3O8).

GHD looked at the complete life of mine plan, mine infrastructure and transport infrastructure required to move crushed ore to a proposed new processing facility. We evaluated five alternative options, reflecting a number of production methods and delivery systems from the mine to the processing plant near Darwin.

The mine design study used block modelling techniques. A schedule was established with the yearly production rates listed. GHD proposed the size and quantity of the equipment required for optimum production. Other areas covered were crushing, separation, mining fines and dust control, waste rock dump, blasting requirements, creek diversion, grade control, cost estimate and bulk sample.

By engaging GHD, you’ll understand both the business and technical issues involved in delivering optimum project outcomes. The mining industry is a continually changing, competitive environment and together we can develop flexible, innovative solutions.

GHD systems synthesise the geological, mine planning, plant selection, mine infrastructure, tailings and environmental management, operational requirements and financial aspects of mining to address the many conflicting objectives in mine development.
