Replacement of trade waste rising main for SPC Ardmona

GHD was commissioned to design and engineer a trade waste rising main replacement for the SPC Ardmona fruit processing plant in Victoria.

This pipe was to be replaced due to the degradation of the existing pipeline, excessive ground movement and pipeline failures. Goulburn Valley Water Authority will take over ownership of the main from SPC-Ardmona on successful replacement of the entire pipeline from the factory to the outfall tower.

The replacement works comprise 1200m of pipework using a combination of:

  • Approximately 560m of DN 400 polyethylene pipe (PE) constructed using pipe sleeving installation methods
  • Approximately 640m of DN 450 Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipe constructed by open trenching and trenchless excavation, where required

Works are being performed with the operation of SPC Ardmona and the fruit season (peak operation) in mind in order to minimise effects and inconvienence on the factory.
