Road Safety Audit China

GHD recently completed a research paper examining global road safety, with a particular emphasis on the challenges faced by China and other developing countries.

China’s road network currently spans some 1.7 million kilometres and is estimated to cover 4 million kilometres by 2050. This rapid expansion is driving an increased focus on safety in conjunction with the development of an efficient road transportation network. The rapid rate of growth, urbanisation and increasing vehicle registrations, coupled with extensive road construction programs are factors leading to higher than average accident rates in these regions.

The paper has been submitted to the Traffic and Transportation Research Institute in China.
