Stockpiles

The RG Tanna Coal Terminal currently exports 40 Mt of coal annually. CQPA expects to achieve 65 Mtpa by 2009 through an aggressive expansion program, which includes the increase of stockpiling capacity from 5.4 mt to 6.3 mt with the addition of three stockpiles. GHD were engaged to provide full engineering services (mechanical, structural, electrical, civil and geotechnical) from preliminary design through to detailed design and documentation for the following components:

  • Three concrete reclaim tunnels, stockpile dischargers andconveyors,
  • Three transfer towers,
  • Two overhead conveyors, including 522 meters main conveyor,
  • End / transfer towers,
  • Traveling tripper,

  • Ancillary services such as light towers, dust suppression
  • systems, electrical substations and dozer refueling station.

GHD also undertook the following:

  • Concept study to determine optimum stockpile configuration,
  • Participation in the HAZOP,
  • Value engineering study on infrastructure,
  • Study on ground remediation methods, and
