GHD was engaged by Blue Circle Southern Cement (BCSC) in Waurn Ponds, Victoria to project manage the grade separation of a quarry haul road and the Geelong-Warrnambool Rail Line.

When completed, the project will improve the efficiency and safety of access by quarry vehicles between limestone deposits that are currently traversed and separated by the rail line.

GHD's role was to manage negotiations, to execute stakeholder pre-construction agreements and provide superintendent services during the construction of the works. The project included a rail bridge and a second bridge supporting three existing large water mains servicing most of Geelong.

It also included the 'in service' relocation of a 250mm diameter gas transmission pipeline and Telstra services. The project value is AUD$5.9 million.
