Wodonga Station

Wodonga is a major regional city in north-east Victoria. It is also a focal point for a number of connecting regional bus and coach services that link the region to the rest of the state.

GHD was commissioned to design the new Wodonga Station. This was an opportunity to create a new piece of public architecture that would be an integral part of community infrastructure and representative of the link to Melbourne and other regional destinations.

The proposed design provides modern, attractive and comfortable facilities. It includes an air-conditioned waiting room, passenger amenities and staff facilities. The design also incorporates a high level of sustainable design. The primary timber and glass materials combined with the simple colourbond roof deck create a simple, low maintenance and sustainable option. The simple roof form extends over the whole building and shelters the platform and drop-off area. It also provides shade and water capture.
